THE STORY OF GRY & SIF
It all started with the two sisters - Gry and Sif
In 2001, in the middle of a backpacking trip through Asia, Gry and her sister Sif fell in love with Nepal's culture and nature.
With the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas as a backdrop and the country's warm people as inspiration, the two sisters spent 14 days trekking.
Afterwards, they volunteered at a local school, where they helped develop ideas to support the school's finances.
During their stay in Nepal, they were enchanted by the skills of the local craftsmen and the traditional felting technique where raw wool is transformed into small works of art.
Gry asked herself: Why not combine the best of Nepal's proud craftsmanship with Scandinavian design?
And that was the idea behind Gry & Sif.
With suitcases full of samples, Gry returned to Denmark and set out to make her dream a reality.
The first products - felt bags - were presented to stores in Copenhagen and the response was overwhelmingly positive.
This marked the beginning of Gry & Sif as an established business in 2001.
25 YEARS OF FELTED MAGIC
What began as a short stay in Nepal developed into a life-changing experience – and the start of a woolen universe that today spreads joy in homes around the world.
In 2026 we will celebrate 25 years of felt magic. A journey that has had its ups and downs, and which began with our very first small creations. Since then, the universe has grown into a colorful community filled with forever flowers, Easter bunnies, Christmas mice and small works of art that transform into memories and everyday magic.
Each little character is designed in Denmark and handmade with love in the heart of Nepal – full of warmth, thoughtful details and a quirky personality.
